Life Transitions and Goal Setting

We often want to make changes in our life, but sometimes don’t know where to start. Goal-setting can help you identify where you want to go, and the steps needed to get there. Goals can be related to a variety of life areas such as interpersonal relationships, career, school, finances, health, lifestyle and personal development. You are far more likely to accomplish your goals if they are SMART goals; for example:

  • Specific
  • Measurable
  • Attainable
  • Realistic
  • Timely

Goals should be broken down into smaller, manageable steps. If you set your goal too high, it will be difficult to accomplish, and your motivation may suffer.

Goal-setting can help you identify where you want to go, and the steps needed to get there.
